Post Anyone replaced R12 freon with R134?

Has anyone done a replacement of the "old" R12 freon with the new R134 refrigerant in their BMW? Can you share your experience, parts involved, cost and most importantly....Is it enough cold air? My 325IX AC is a faded memory...I have to replace the compressor anyway...should I go all the way?
Thanks

I got that done on my Camry. I think it cost the dealer about $200 for this car professionally. Sorry couldn't be of more help.

Yeah, I did it on my '93 Exploder It was not that hard at all. It puts out some cold ass air. I think it was only like $30 or something at Wal-Mart.

humm... I would have to disagree with everyone here. I've done it to my Lotus and ended up NEVER driving it in hot weather!!!

The new system is just too weak for the Lotus, maybe for other cars it is okay, but my experience with it was not very pleasent.

I felt like my Lotus was modified with "Lightweight" specs.... NO AC!!!!
