2004 passat

A friend who lives down the hall from me is looking to buy a 2004 passat, he said it has 45k miles and the guy is asking 8500. Supposedly its the loaded model premium sound etc. It has the 1.8t, the price seems a little high to me but my question is what are the common issues with this car/ this engine. He doesn't really know where to look and I am swamped this week and dont have time to research all over the internet so I was wondering if someone who was familiar with this car or engine could chime in and give me a couple things to look for and tell him to ask.

Thanks in advance

check if the car has done all recalls. there are bunch. 45k is pretty low to cause any issues but check cv boot, tie rod, control arms, vc gasket. check general stuff like tires, brakes, belts and service record if possible.

Make sure the fuel pump recall was performed. Coil packs also an issue...
Price seems a bit high. It's only a GLS (the GLX was for the V6 only). He could probably pick up a W8 for a little bit more.
