ContractR just got his permit
city of chicago ticket question

i have a quick question for anyone that might be able to answer it. if a car is registered in elgin where it's not required to have a city sticker is parked in chicago and get's a ticket for city sticker, how does that work. do i need to dispute and it get's dropped since the car is registered in elgin and elgin doesn't require a chicago city sticker. also, same situation, but for tinted windows. chicago just raised the ticket cost from $25 to $250. if the car is registered to another town where it's still $25 for the ticket, would one have to pay $25 or $250?

City sticker should get tossed but you're probably out of luck on the window tint unless you want to try and send a letter "proving" that you removed the tint.

This is like arguing that you can't get a ticket for speeding anywhere in the US because your state doesn't have speed laws.

You're screwed on the tint ticket, and may be on the City Sticker. Do you live in Chicago? Is your car parked there every night? If so, they can ticket you.

I think you are SOL on the parking ticket. You are required to have a city sticker and a sticker for the neighborhood that you parked in. It doesn't matter where you are from, only where your car was parked.

bosstones has disabled reputation
I've known people that got city sticker tickets but got them overturned by proving the car was registered elsewhere.

So if I live in Wisconsin and park at work in Chicago I need a city sticker? I don't think so. City sticker should be thrown out, tints your SOL. Shame you will need to go to court to get it thrown out. Where is YOUR licence registered? If it is in Chicago and your car is registered to you and at a diffrent address your SOL on the shitty sticker too. ///J.T.///

It's not daytime that's the issue. If a cop notices that your car is parked downtown every night, they can ticket you. Schaumburg did the same thing to one of my old roommates for parking his car at our apartment complex while it was registered in Wyoming or something.

If you live in Wisconsin and park in the city, you need to park in a pay area. Find a meter, box, or a parking garage. You will get ticketed or towed depending on where you park and the time of day.

Where I live, you need a city sticker and a residential sticker between the hours of 6:00PM and 9:30AM. The city does not want people who work and do not live in the city parking in residential areas, especially an area that they do not live in. I would think that the city sticker ticket is not going to be thrown out, but I know that they do not throw out residential sticker tickets.
