2009 List of area track events

2009 List of area track events

By no means is this a complete list, and can be a work in progress. If you know of more events in the midwest (IL, IN, WI, MI, etc) please post up and I'll work them into the calendar.

Some of these events are more newbie friendly than others. If you are looking to sign up for your first event, I recommend an event with both classroom and in-car instruction for the entire day. Typical price of these events range from $175-300 per day (click on organizer link for event specific pricing, schedule, run groups, etc.). If you do not have a helmet, contact the organizer and see if any are available to borrow/rent or purchase yourself a nice SA2005 helmet. If your helmet starts with an M (motorcycle), it may not be allowed at all tracks/events. Some events are vert and truck friendly while others may not be. When in doubt, inquire with the organizers. You may be required to join a club for some of these events (i.e. NASA, BMWCCA, Audi club, PCA, SCCA, etc)

This list includes high performance drivers education events (HPDE's), open lapping days (limited or no instructors/classroom) and time trials for road courses in the area. Auto-X is outside the scope of this schedule and thread.

Onto the list:

Thanks for the nice list! I can't wait to get out there again this year. Hopefully I can fit at least 5 track days in my schedule this summer.

My buddy was just there recently for work on his evo. He asked them and they said they wern't sure if they would be doing them this year becuase they lost a lot of money last year (kinda their fault for having them at bad times). Thats why I'm curious. I hope they have at least 1

I was thinking the EVO community (or whoever their target audience is) either doesn't have the community depth to support a recurring track day program like this, or they either don't have the money or don't see the value in it. Too bad because the evo seems to make a good track car.

They have those gorgeous new evo X's that they are spitting out to compete in everything you can imagine. I would want to show them off at least once.

Made some updates as the NASA Midwest schedule has finalized. Gingerman will be a race weekend this year. (a week before nationals, eek!).

Also, the June Gateway event with St. Louis BMWCCA may be a race school. Do NOT need a race prepped car to participate. If they have this school, I am going for sure (as I need to get my w2w license!)

Darn, I was hoping there would be a 2nd autobahn date with NASA. Looks like I'm going to be missing BHF because I will be at the 24 hr of le mans such a shame!

Where can I check for updates on the gateway event, I would like to try and get out there this year
