Differences in sidewall?

I have 235/40/17 tires all around my car but its time to get 2 new ones. I was checking Discount Tire and a 45series tire is consideribly cheaper. Will it make any difference if the sidewall in the front is 40 and the rear is 45?
Any help would be appreciated.

taller sidewall = more squish. it should ride nicer (in general, not always) but roll over more on hard turns.

don't forget that it will change your gearing and speedometer reading a bit, assuming you're keeping the same tread width (235).

It will also look like your rolling on meatballs. Too much sidewall looks ridiculous.

Thats what i was thinking, beefy is more for muscle cars. So do you guys think i should dish out the extra $20 or so for a 40mm sidewall?

its not 40mm sidewall, its 40% of the tread width = 235 * 0.4 = 94mm. A 235/45 would be a 105.75mm sidewall (23.5mm difference in overall tire diameter)

Yes, it's only 20 bucks. Those tires will be on there for 20k+ mile.
