Winter tires...

I'm going to try and drive the M as little as possible in the winter, especially with snow outside, but just in case I'll be getting some winter tires for the contours... what's everyone's favorite (I've never had winter tires before)... any input is appreciated

Dunlop Wintersport M3s... you won't be disappointed. Great snow and ice traction, and they're not as sloppy as most snow tires in the dry.

Agreed. In fact, I'm driving on mine right now.

+1 on the M3s, not much tread squirm at all so they feel good in the dry. for as much snow as we get, i think they're a good choice.

I've actually heard that Blizzaks tend to wear faster than the Dunlops, but I suppose it's all in the way you drive on them. I'm going on my 4th 5-month season on the Dunlops and they still look brand new...

I had two very hard driving winter seasons on my dunlops, and they were still at least half tread. I don't expect to get more than two seasons out of any tire, so that's damn good.

What about those Nokian snow tires? I have heard good reviews from the 9-2x group.

phenomenal snow/ice grip from Nokian Hakkapeliittas, probably the best thing next to studded tires (and some of them are studded). This is what I'm likely getting this season depending on which winter beater i pick up.

I had Blizzak Revo1 and man they were soft as hell. Kinda scary to change lanes on the highway. Awesome in snow, though.

Couple weeks ago I picked up some 15" Borbets with Dunlop Graspic DS-2 for my GTO so I'll see how those do this year.

+2 from what I hear. I've always used Michelin Pilot Alpins and loved 'em.

Nokian ftw.

I have the Nokian WR on my Celica for the winter. It's an all-season but it does great in snow. I called a few tire places and they recommended them to me since Chicago doesn't see snow 100%, most of the time it gets salted down pretty quick. Since it's an all-season focused on snow it won't wear quickly when it gets warmer or when you're doing a lot of driving on pavement.

These are the WRs Nokian Tires

I recently see they added the WRGR2 to the line up Nokian Tires

wr are the only all seasons rated for severe snow i believe in the world

nokian dedicated snow tires are bad arse and i believe like 90% of the ice racing winners are running some form of nokians
