Where to fix bent rim?

Hey guys,

It's that time of year and the potholes finally got the best of me yesterday and I bent one of my front wheels. Can you guys please recommend some places to take it to? The prices that these places charge is outrageous, usually 140 dollars or so. Anywhere but Wheels of America though b/c they won't do any mounting.

Thank you

I have always had good luck with Wheels America....If your hang up is that they won't mount the tire/wheel, just leave that part to Anthony @ A&L.

Are you in the city? I bent a rim last year and brought it to Demitri at Chicago Auto Center. Definitely wasn't $140. Depending on how bad you hit it, might not be fixable.

Wheels america is amazing, they fixed my friends flik wheels. They weren't just bent but they were cracked, and since flik's importer edge is no longer in business we had no other option other than getting the wheel repaired. They rewelded the wheel, refinished the powder coat and fixed the bend within 2 days all for $150.

Isn't it possible that the wheel will be out of round or off balanced after a repair? My Alutec 18's are severely bent and I pursued having them fixed, but my insurance told me they were "unfixable" since they'd be permanently off balanced.

Does that sound right to anyone? I'd really like to get these fixed, but I don't want to chew up tires or my suspension.

I went to wheel america a few years ago to get my rims refinished and cost $99 a wheel, all four wheels were around $400. Recently I contacted then for a quote and they told me $540 for all four wheels. I guess they changed their prices?

Any updates on Wheels America? I've got a very slight bend in one of my BBS RKII's, but I want to be sure I can trust the place that's working on it to do it right.

I had Patrick send out 2 BBS wheels on our 528i sport a few years back, and the lips came back dull compared to the 2 untouched wheels, and there was still a slight vibration that could not be balanced out of one of them. A year later all the bolts on both had rusted from not being coated after disassembly. I don't know if they used Trans Wheel or Wheels America but I don't want them going back to the same place.

Anyone heard about either of these companies?

with all the good reviews I'm planning on having wheels america do my SSR's

I called them the other day though, and it's a flat rate of like $130 a rim...

I use Wheels America for all repairs for my customers and my car as well, all four of my m6 reps was jacked up, bend and 2 of the had cracks and they fixed them right up for me. They also mount and balance tires as well. The cost to repair each wheel should be $130 and mounting and balancing around $15 each wheel

As far as Wheels America goes I would give them a 5/10 in my book.

I got two wheels done and they came back COMPLETELY the wrong shade of silver, with one pair being dark silver and the refinished gunmetal gray. They also coated the centerbores which I needed to scrape clean to get the wheel to fit on the hub.

Not only that but I still had a vibration from the car which wasn't there with the other wheels. Considering I just spent $300 there I asked if I could get all of the wheels off the car rechecked to see if any others need straightening. He told me that he would take a look at the ones he did but didn't want to waste time on "free work".

I will be looking for an alternative next time.
